Description: Children who live with continuous instability - poverty, abuse, parental drug or alcohol addiction, etc. - may engage in behaviors that seem highly dysfunctional in the relatively stable environment of the classroom. Teachers often label these students defiant and then exacerbate the problem by allowing an adversarial relationship to develop between themselves and the students. If we understand the origin and rationale for negative student behaviors, we can address problems at the source.
Location: GTCC Conference Center
Presenter: Dr. Deb Teitelbaum
Audience: This workshop is recommended for experienced teachers in schools with high poverty rates and persistent behavior problems. New teachers may wish to a Special Notes: District restrictions will be removed 8/25/2017.
